Founded in 1976 by Eliahu (Chuzi) Amiel (1927–2016), Amiel’s story is rooted in a much longer legacy that began in the 1830s, when the Amiel family journeyed from Casablanca, Morocco, to Jaffa, driven by faith, vision, and a deep connection to the Land of Israel.

Chuzi Amiel became one of the pioneering figures in Israel’s incoming tourism industry, earning widespread respect for his leadership, integrity, and commitment to excellence. His significant contributions to Israeli tourism were recognized by the State of Israel and the Ministry of Tourism, which named him Man of the Year in 1996. In 2000, he was further honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the President of Israel.

Today, Amiel continues to build on this remarkable heritage, combining generations of experience with a passion for creating meaningful and unforgettable journeys to Israel.

In 1986, Chuzi appointed his son, Oni Amiel, as Director and CEO of the company. A licensed tour guide who had been active in Israel’s tourism industry since 1982, Oni brought fresh energy and vision to the business. Together, father and son strengthened Amiel’s position as a leading destination management company, expanding its global reach by establishing subsidiaries in Germany and Tokyo and developing strategic partnerships across the United States and Europe.

Upon Chuzi’s retirement in 2000, leadership of the company passed to Oni, who has continued to guide Amiel with the same values of dedication, professionalism, and personal commitment that defined his father’s legacy. Under his stewardship, the company has remained true to its heritage while continuing to evolve and grow in an ever-changing global tourism landscape.
 

In 2008, Oni’s children, a third generation of Amiels, joined the company. Yuval Amiel became CEO in 2019.
